Dear,

I bought a laptop a couple of months ago in France.  I lost the purchase invoice, I tried getting the invoice again from the shop where I bought it, unfortunately they cannot give it to me anymore... .

What happens to my HP-waranty? (the laptop was earlier registered online)

Thanks for the information.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 battery life well below announced?

Hi all. I purchased the EliteBook x360 G3 i7 Ref. 3ZH10EA not two months ago, and I have consistently noted that the battery seems to discharge at a fast pace. I mean like some 30% per hour. I am currently down to 65% after 1 hour 15 minutes. This doing little more than light work on Citrix // SAP, and now posting this via Chrome, so not even really utilizing the CPu at all. CPU idling at an average 8 to 10% and not much going on. Brightness is around the 50% mark. This laptop is announced with "up to 18 hours", yet I am getting nothing close to this. At the current clip, I'm out of battery well before 5 hours. Can someone confirm or let me know if there might be something I need to do to fix the issue? This looks like a laptop version of Dieselgate, where the announced values are overly inflated at non-realistic usage cases to pump up the numbers. However, I am willing to concede there may be some underlying issue or that I might even have a defective laptop.

HP EliteBook 840 G5 with "jerky" bluetooth audio (headphones)

I just purchased a brand new HP EliteBook 840 G5 a few weeks ago and I love it sor far. However I have a recurrent problem with the bluetooth audio quality... I tested it SEVERAL pairs of Bluetooth headphones and for some reason, sometime (not all the time, but pretty often) the audio (music) become choppy/jerky in my headphones, same for any sources such as if I am listening Spotify app (local or cloud media) or iTunes app (local or cloud media). I sometime have the feeling that it's related with system ressources usage... because if I launch a large application such as Photoshop CC 2019, at some point the audio become choppy/jerky in my headphones during the launch or during a switch between actives applications. But again, it's juste a feeling and I am not sure that the Bluetooth feed can be directly related to system ressources.

To "fix" temporarely the problem. Sometime disconnect (power off) my BT headphones, sometime I close some unused applications, sometime I reboot my entire computer or sometime I am just living with the jerky/choppy music...

All my drivers & firmwares are fully up-to-date, so as my Windows 10 Pro...

any suggestions?

Thunderbolt Dock G2 120W random disconnection issues.

Bought a bunch of these docks to go with a bunch of Elitebook X360 1030 G3 notebooks. All of the docks randomly disconnect the network/display/USB.

Touching the USB-C docking cable can be enough to cause disconnection but at other times simply using the notebook keyboard is enough to provoke the issue. (Seems to be largely a physical issue with the dock cable, and swapping USB-C ports on the notebook makes no difference to the sensitivity of the docking cable interface).

What have others done to resolve this issue? (All driver & BIOS updates have been done).

We are thinking of ditching HP and trying a third party dock. Got any suggestions?

Power Bank is not functioning but seems to have two of the four lights partially lighting up.

I just tried to charge a few devices off the side USB port but the battery acts like it is dead, so I charged it over a four hour timeframe but still not working and the power bank seems to have two of the four lights partially lit. I have had this battery for about a month at this point so can't believe it is bad at this point so can I reset the battery or do I need to let it discharge over a couple weeks for it to reset itself? Or should I send it in for a replacement?

Have changed like 150 boards till now and first time seeing this long FeatureBytes . How can I walk around this issue to program the correct FeatureBytes ?

I hope you understand the situation. Waiting for some advices.

How to boot from USB Flash with an EliteBook 8560W

I have an EliteBook 8560W that I would like to install Windows 10.  I have a bootable USB Flash which works on other laptops I have here but not on the 8560W.  I can go into the F9 BootOptions and select the USB key as it is recognized and select it, but it ends up booting off the HDD.

I've been reading around the net about disabling the SecureBoot option in the BIOS but there is no option for secure boot at all, unless it's disguised as something else, but all the images posted show SecureBoot.

Can anyone assist please?

BIOS version is 68SVD Ver. F.63 which is the latest version for this laptop.

Thanks.

Using SSD and Device Manager reports Unknow Device re: 3D Drivegaurd

I have seen noted elsewhere that 3D Drive Gaurd is not required for use with an SSD.  I have just done a clean install of Win 7 PRO and choose not to install this driver, however Device Manager reports this as an Unkown Device (HPQ6007).

  • It appears in Task Manger (on another machine) as AccelerometerSt.exe and consumes 984K when running.
  • It's located in dev mgr under System Devices => HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor with no option to disable it.

Unclear if its better to live with an unknow device in dev mgr or install the driver which in effect will not be used but runs?

I expect this should generate an error in some system log but not seeing anything.

BIOS Configuration - Video Memory Size (Advanced=>Device Configuration)

In the BIOS settings for this PC there is a setting for "Video memory size" which is defaulted to 32MB.  Other settings include 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB.

Can someone please explain how the system uses this setting?  I have 12GB RAM on the PC so allocating more memory to video is not an issue, but could see how this may be an issue on the 4GB systems.  Attached are screen shots from the video properties page for 32 and 512 selections in the BIOS.  Not sure if these values are driven by the BIOS as the difference does not quite match the delta in BIOS.

I am hoping this may improve quality on a 4K display, but realize these devices were not designed for this level of tech.

Unfortunatly there is very little detail written on the BIOS for these devices.

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Clikc ok to close the application.

Isn't there any way to get rid of this message?

(Without changing settings in BIOS, we would like to have it set to no security).

HP Probook Warranty Dispute?!

$

Dear Community and all,

I recently (less than a month) bought an HP Probook 430 G5 through Amazon Uk from a known big retailer.

I bought also a windows 10 pro License (the notebook had Freedos initially)

Everything worked fine and I'm really happy with my purchase, except ...

as I bought it new ( I can provide relevant invoice), I did not expect HP Support Assistant to state that I have only 6 months (or less) left of warranty. I was also interested in extending the warranty as well, but first thing's first.

How can I dispute what HP thinks/registers as a 6 month laptop ?!? Also, why aren't I able to extend in any magnitude the warranty?!?

Thank you for your time

Ho to Wipe or Change BIOS password Elitebook 6930p

Hello,
since March 2009 a happy owner of a HP Elitebook 6930p (P/N: CB996ET#ABH and SN:2CE90917KH),
which in the mean time is running Windows-10 (originally was Windows-7 Ultimate 32bits).

This week I was confronted with the fact that there is an issue with the boot configuration data,
File:\Boot\BCD
Error code:0xc000014c
In order to recover my laptop tried to boot from a DVD/RecoveryDisk/2nd bootable USB drive but so far unsuccessfully
since I discovered that I am unable to alter the boot order of my laptop because it has for me an unknown BIOS password :-(
I checked with the reseller in the Netherlands what they used as BIOS password but they did n't remember anymore so I am kind of stuck.
Can anybody help me with the master BIOS password or another trick to wipe or replace the current (unknown) BIOS password?

Thanks.

Hello,

will a 5TB 2.5" laptop 15mm HDD  fit in my Envy 17 n100 model laptop's 2nd drive bay(see picture below)? This HDD is thicker than an average HDD because of its capacity and size.  Will it fit in and will I be able to put the housing / cover back?

HP 8770w EliteBook - Which Graphics Adapter - AMD or Nvidia

Windows Device Manager does not tell which graphics adapter this notebook uses. The choice is AMD or Nvidia, and of those, there are several selections. BIOS says the video BIOS is ATI. How do I find out which graphics adapter is installed? Or should I download and instal HP's SoftPaq utility and let it decide?
