New Elitebook X360 1030 G3 is not connecting to Z24n G2 monitor

Hi there - hoping somebody might be able to advise on the first of what might be a few questions for my new HP laptop.

 

I have recently become the owner of an Elitebook X360 1030 G3.  This is to replace my Spectre X360 which kept having fan issues, so I thought a proper business grade laptop might avoid this.  I got my Spectre at the beginning of March, and bought a monitor for it in May, the HP Z24N G2 which worked fine with the Spectre using an HDMI cable and an HP USB-C™ to Multi-port Hub to connect.

 

Now, having received my Elitebook and plugged in to the multi-port on the same specs, nothing happens with the monitor.  I installed a driver for the monitor, and my laptop lists it in device details, but it does not turn on the monitor.  I contacted HP Customer support, and they said that the Z24N G2 is not compatible with the Elitebook, and referred me to a list of HP Monitors, which as far as I could see, had pretty much the same specs (I only want a 24" monitor) and are meant to be business grade.

 

I emailed HP, who have been rather unhelpful so far and told me I just have to buy a correct monitor.  Given that this year has been a real drag since I switched to HP, I'm not very interested in doing this, I only bought the first one this May.  So I wondered if there is anything out there that will enable the Elitebook to connect with the Z24N?  Or, if I really am doomed here - any non HP laptops that you could recommend that are compatible with an Elitebook, as I don't want to get stuck in this ecosystem if this is the case.

Hello,

 

i have bought a HP Zbook 14u g5. Computer is working really really slow. I have put the computer to servise. They said they did not find anything and everything is ok with the computer. Is there anything i can do? Computer is only 5 months old, it has been like this since begining. Also i have a very bad experience with this service. They called me and asked me for my windows password.... ?! When i got the computer back for the first time it was not closed properly. So my question is... What can i do? Should i send the computer back until they find the solution? I am using this computer for my work and it is a bit hard to be without it.

Audio Intermittently Stops working HP X30 Elitebook 1030 G2

Hi,

Our school is having intermittent audio issues with our pool of HP x360 Elitebooks -1030 G2 x 15. The audio randomly stops working on the notebooks and the only way to resolve the issue is to reboot the notebook. This is causing our teaching staff issues when presenting audio to students. I have updated all the drivers /firmware to the current softpaq releases and the OS updates current for Windows 1803.

Just after some advice how to trouble shoot this intermittent audio issue on our pool of x360 elitebooks.

HP Envy 17 nXXX 2nd HDD connector not detected

Hi,

 

I bought a SATA connector and ribbon cable for my HP ENVY to connect a 2nd HDD/SSD drive. Unfortunately it is not an original HP connector, it is from Aliexpress.

(There is an m.2 SSD with the OS)

The connected 2nd drive is not detected in Windows10, nor in device manager or Disk Management.

There are two SATA HDD connectors on the motherboard, the 1st one is using an original connector, the 2nd one is the chinese one. Original is "TMT" branded and the chinese one is "HSB" if it matters.

The Question is why is the 2nd HDD is not detected? when I check the 2nd connector with the original HP, it is also not detected by W10.

When I Insert the Aliexpress ribbon cable and SATA connector to the 1st connector connected with an HDD (which is working fine with the original HP connector), the laptop is not starting at all. I push the power button, but nothing happens. If I pull out the SATA connector of the HDD, the computer starts fine.

 

So the 2nd HDD connector is not working with any of the SATA cables.

Is it because the TPM has enabled?

 

Should I clear the TPM?

How can I check if the cable is faulty? (the original HP cable was also not detected in the 2nd connector)

(Please do not answer me to use only HP original parts. Next time I will.  Also with the reboot, reinstall, take out battery etc. tips. I am not an english speaker, sorry for my bad english and grammer, etc.)

I was just prepraing to buy the HP ProBook 430 G5 3KY90EA, but the new Whiskey Lake CPU's were published and ever since I am waiting on the updated version for the Probook but still nothing.

 

Do you have any news/updates regarding to it?

2nd HD Windows Start Error No Bootable Drive Found? SSD + HDD Both with OS

Hello

I have a computer with an original HDD which windows loggs into fine. Win10

I purchased a M.2 SSD and have installed windows on this and have been useing it for some time. The install was clean and outside of the original HD information.

When I remove the original HDD the computer does not find a bootable drive. I am certain all the windows informations is on each disk seperately. I get an option to dual boot when both are connected.

SSD is detected in BIOS

Unsure in legacy is supported enabled or disabled but didnt seem to make a difference. There is a possibility i didnt enter the correct sequence of digits at promt to enable legacy but that prompt screen has not come back again.

Is there a way to make this SSD work without the original HDD? Would i need to copy over a partition or certain file without disruptiing my SSD user specs?

Z-Book vs 840 G - What's the difference/

I  manage a small fleet of 840 G1 and G2 laptops.  Looking at the service manaul it appears theZ-Book is "Family". 

 

I see that the Z-Books tend to have a second graphics adapter (as did some of the 840's, but it's different).  I also see some differences in the cover and keyboard bezel color(grey vs silver).

 

Are there any other differences like a sturdier case?

 

I am not keen on the basic Intel adapter quality on 4K.  Are the adapters in these any better?

2013 Ultraslim Dock with USB Powered Speakers makes noise

I have some 840 G1 in 2013 Ultraslim docks running FW 2.30.  I have recently been adding some inexpensive USB powered speakers.  I am noticing that the speaker runs great connected to the 840 G1 directly while in the dock (USB and speaker), but if I connect the USB power connection to the dock I get noise (hum with noise over it). 

 

Has anyone else noticed this?

Defective screen - no display

Hi,

 I had two Elitebook 820 G3, there is no display at all, it stop working few weeks ago. Both laptops can power on and working well with docking station. The screen no light at all, it seems the hardware issue. How can i get it repair?

HP 655 - BIOS update failed and laptop is not starting anymore (black screen / caps lock flashing)

Hi guys,

 

I got a HP 655 laptop (B6M65EA#ABD) and wanted to execute a bios update using WIN7PRO and the official HP file.

 

So I downloaded sp66770.exe, which would update from F.02 to the most current bios version F.29. The flashing process ran without any issue (at least it looked like), however after the laptop rebooted itself, the screen remains black and the caps lock keeps flashing.

 

I did some research on the internet and tried different approaches, but in the end I haven't been able to solve the issue, which means I can't access bios nor Windows.

 

What I did:

 - took the battery out, unplugged the power supply and pressed the power button for one minute -> nothing

 - removed CMOS battery for 10 minutes -> nothing 

 - tried to create a bootable USB stick (HP BIOS Recovery), but the sp66770.exe isn't capable of doing that

 

Looking for help.

A strange loud noise of the processor cooling fan

Hello,

i don't know if the correct way to report a PC problem. I have  a HP ELITEBOOK x 360 1020 G2, PRODID IEQ18EA#ABZ, bought on Dicembre 2017.

During the utilization of the PC there seems to be an overheating of the processor and the fan starts with a loud noise. 

Could you give me some information on what i should have to do.

zBook Studio x360 G5 - Slow SHIFT key performance

Been using my brand-new x360 zBook Studio G5 for about a month...

 

Has anyone else noticed that the SHIFT key is "slow"?  If you try to type any shifted key, like : or ", pressing the shift key followed by the target key in quick succession, it doesn't work.  You have to press SHIFT and then wait a beat before pressing the target key.  I've never experienced this problem before on any other laptop or keyboard, and I am a fairly fast typist.

 

The same problem will occur in the SHIFT not 'releasing' feast enough.  So you try to type a capitalized letter, such as:

 

HEllo

 

and if you type the E fast enough, it comes out uppercase, even though you released the SHIFT Key.

 

I've confirmed that this issue isn't due to my operating system, as I tested it directly in the system BIOS and the issue is present there also.

 

Can we expect a firmware update to solve this issue?

Hello,
I have a new 450 G5 model number 3CX21UT#ABA.

I am unable to get the HP Support page to auto detect the laptop, and support does not recognize the serial number.

Can you advise what may be causing this problem.  HP support does recognize my HP printer that is connected to the Laptop.
