I have an Elitebook 850 G3 that is experiencing some issues and I'd like to try a different SSD and potentially RAM to see if they resolve the issue. I'd also like to potentially upgrade the RAM on a different machine of the same model which was purchased at the same time. Both of these machines are still under warranty but the user of the first is rarely in the office so getting HP out to service the machine, or worse potentially having to send it in could be difficult for me so I was hoping to troubleshoot myself first. However if the warranty would be voided by me opening the machines we'll just open a support ticket and get them looked at by HP. Anyone know if I should expect to see any issues if I opened them myself? I'm fairly experienced, having serviced Zbooks and 85x0 models previously but this model is a little less blatantly servicable.
Can I open up an Elitebook 850 G3 without voiding the warranty?

ZBook G5 with Elite Dock Thunderbolt 3 | Ethernet Not Recognized
I've setup my HP ZBook 15 G5 with an Elite Dock with Thunderbolt 3. I followed all directions to update drivers including the reccomendations here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-Notebooks/HP-Zbook-Thunderbolt-3-Dock-USB-ports-not-working/m-p/5728718/highlight/true#M141754
The Broadcom Ethernet Controller is not appearing in the Network Adapters in devices. I've tried resetting the BIOS to turn off security settings for Thunderbolt as we reccomended here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Zbook-200W-Thunderbolt-3-dock-ethernet-not-working/m-p/6350751/highlight/true#M419910 however that did not result in the ethernet being recognized.
I've tried unplugging the dock, restarting the computer without the dock, plugging the dock back in and having the computer recognize the dock again. The ethernet connector lights green when the ethernet connection is pluged in.

Elitebook X360 1030 G2 with Thunderbolt G2 dock major inconsistencies.
Hi,
I have had this setup for about 2 months now. An Elietbook X360 1030 G2 with the 230w Thunderbolt G2 dock. No speaker, just the standard top.
The laptop and dock bios/firmware are up to date. The latest drivers are installed. I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64bit 1803 with the latest updates.
I have 2 displayport monitors connected in addition to a USB C displayport to HDMI adapter going to a 3rd monitor. The usb c adapter supports Displayport Alternate Mode. So a total of 3 HD monitors connected to it. The laptop lid is closed.
I have a USB keyboard, mouse, a plantronics savi w740-m, a usb hub and a usb cable for my cell phone. My phone isn't plugged into it very much at all. I also have my speakrs plugged into it.
In the laptop bios I have set to power on when AC is connected. The result of this is when I plug in the Thunderbolt dock the laptop turns on.
I had a very similar setup with an Elitebook 8460p with a dock. 3 monitors, same peripherals for the past 5-6 years. It worked nearly flawlessly. I also had it set to power on when AC was connected. So I could come in, dock it and go to work.
Here is my problem. About 1 out of every 10 boot attempts with the new laptop is flawless and successful. The number of boots with problems is rediculous. This is when plugging in the thunderbolt dock with the lid closed. Either the fan will start spinning full speed with no display and no boot. Or it will power on with no display and no boot. Or it will power on no display but not activate the external monitors.
When it has no display and doesn't boot I have to open the lid then hold the power button in to get it to turn off. Sometimes when I press the power button it turns off immediately then turning it back on results in no display and no boot. When this happens I have to power it off and press the power button then quickly press it again and hold it in for 10 seconds. It's almost like it did boot and is going into sleep mode when you press the power button. Opening the lid and powering it off and back on it will boot. Sometimes it won't boot at all no matter how many times you turn it off and back on. I have to unplug the dock to get it to boot, then plug the dock in.
Sometimes when it boots correctly one of the monitors will not turn on. I have to power the monitor off and back on. Windows does show 3 monitors connected but the same one is off when this happens. It just happened where the same 3rd monitor wouldn't come on at all and I will have to reboot the system. This even after unplugging the display cable from the monitor and plugging it back in. It does turn out it is the displayport over USB C connected monitor. I'm not sure if unplugging the adapter from the dock and plugging it back in will fix it. Most of the time just turning the monitor off and back on is enough to fix it.
Ok, what else. Before the first boot of the day sometimes after plugging in the dock I will have no external video, but if I open the lid the preboot login prompt comes up. I authenticate and close the lid. WIndows boots and everything is fine.
Am I the only one using my laptop in this setup, where I have everything plugged into the dock and just want to come into the office, plug my 1 USB C Thunderbolt cable in and go to work?
Why is this setup so flakey? I am really furstrated at this point.
Finally, rarely can I simply come in, plug the cable in with the lid closed and have external video and can use the usb keyboard to complete the preboot authentication. It does work like this sometimes, I just want it to work like this all the time.

EliteBook 8540w ssd automatic drivelock
Hello, I have an EliteBook 8540w laptop. I cannot unlock an SSD that has been blocked by automatic drivelock, I know the password, it only works in BIOS, if you can disable protection, it goes to the security tab. Bios during the lock was updated and reset.
How to unlock this SSD?
Docking station not working
My laptop will not charge and I have no video when plugged into the docking station. I've downloaded and ran all of the softpaq's and still the only thing that works is the power button (and the LAN actually).
I just cannot imagine that a dock just plainly wont work on my machine. I've tried everything I've seen in similar threads, but the biggest thing was probably hooking up to the DP and updating the firmware. In my case, it wont run the firmware update because it doesnt recognize the monitor (in either port).
Ideas?
can I upgrade my hp stream 14 with something like a razor thunderbolt x? (im a gamer)

Bottom/ back panel of HPSpectre 360 laptop is loose . The 8 month old Core i7 laptop is rarely used
The HP Spectre x360, laptop was bought in the month of May 2017 and is rarely used as my second laptop. I observed that the back cover is very loose from one of the sides near the hinges. There are only two screws holding the back cover towards the other side and are intact. What to do?

10 HP ProBook 450 G5 (2XZ22EA) overheating

Issue with HP Probook 450 G5 connecting via USB-C docking station to external monitors
Hi,
I have bought the following configuration:
- HP ProBook 450 G5 i5-8250U 15.6FHD 8GB 1DDR4 256GB SSD
- HP USB-C universal dock (1MK33ET)
- 2 external monitors HP E243 elite display (1FH47AA)
( the 2 external monitors are connected with DisplayPort connectors/cables)
Sometimes up to 10 times a day artifacts appear (vertical stripes) on both external monitors (never on the laptop itself).
Unplugging an plugging the power of the docking fixes the issue.
When conncecting one monitor it seems to work without this problem.
However, as you can understand, this is anoying.
The laptop have been deployed a few weeks ago with all latest drivers and BIOS updates.
I was looking for a firmware update for the docking, but could not find one on the HP site.
Could anyone give me some tips or suggestions on how to solve this issue?
Thx in advance!
Chris
