My laptop, ProBook 450 G2 Go goes into sleep mode even tho power settings set to never (v3)
This is version 3 of set of posts which looks at the problem of a Win10 PC going to sleep early. It describes the results of my investigations which have been going on since the end of 2017.
Sending the PC to sleep may initiate of the problem - the power button is set to send the PC to sleep, and the problem seems to begin shortly after pressing it.
Just before Christmas 2018 I noticed he PC suddenly going to sleep early shortly after using the power button.
I'm going through a test now where I'm not using the button any more; only shutting down using the Start button. I began the test on 31st December and so far the early sleep mode has not returned.
Maybe others with this problem could try the same test and report back?

Folio 9470m won't stay on- even in BIOS.
Hello!
I'm seeking help for a dodgy Folio 9470m that I inheirited. It came with stability problems (not staying powered, crashing, etc) so I reinstalled Windows 10 onto it. This took several tries, as the computer would often power down into a "deep sleep" during installation, or even in BIOS before installation. Occasionally, it would also boot loop for several minutes. It successfully boots to OS about half the time now without boot looping, but will not stay on for more than a few minutes.
What I've tried:
BIOS update: Updated to a bios from a few years back as the new one wouldn't update, then updated to latest. No change.
Power: Tried powering from just charger, just battery, and both. No change.
Cleared fan: Fan was completely blocked by tape from manufacturing (internally, between fan and heatsink) (not a good sign as it was refurb). No change.
Reseated ram: No change.
Reseated CMOS bat: No change.
Installed Linux instead: No change.
Powered with system off, battery out for 1h: No change.
Currently thinking about just buying a new MOBO and installing, any suggestions before I do that?

Cannot connect anymore with Snapdragon X5 LTE in Elite X2 1012 G1
Since some time I am unable to connect to my cellular network. I'm not sure exactly what caused the change or when exactly it stopped working since I regularly work in Wifi.
Symptoms:
- When I try to connect using Windows, I get the message that an APN is needed (before the 'default' APN worked fine).
- Using the Vodafone Mobile Broadband app, I get the message that the connection has failed with the suggestion to make sure that the device is not used by other programs
- Running the HP Network Check there is a finding that says that the SIM or Device are locked with reference to a Pin2.
- The driver details show that the Generic Microsoft driver is used (and not the driver I expected), and the evenlog shows a 'Device not Migrated message'.
Actions tried
- I tried multiple (Vodafone) SIMs.
- I updated the drivers and (notebook) firmware to the laters version through the HP Support Assistant (which might as well have been the cause, since I regularly do this). Also Windows is completely up-to-date.
- I rolled back to a restorepoint from two months ago.
- I removed the HP drivers manually and reinstalled manually (sp89031).
- I tried switching the LTE modem firmware to generic and then back to vodafone.
I'm out of options here. Anyone who can help?

Are these temperatures normal? (To me it seems really bad)
I bought the new gem cut HP spectre x360 a week ago and it seemed to have high CPU usage with all the hp bloatware and then i installed Core Temp and while idle (5-9% CPU) the tempreatures are hovering over 50-55 degrees celsius with the optimal thermal settings in the HP Command Center. Since im used to a clean windows, i thought there was something im missing so i did a clean windows installation, installed necessary drivers and it did not change anything.
Right now, once the CPU pushes around 30-40% utilization in Task Manager, im reaching tempreatures of 85-90 degrees celsius which, in my opinion, is bad. This is my first HP product and i dont know if this is a common issue?
I bought an external GPU as well so i could use the i7 8th gen for some gaming and even then, games that utilize 40-50% cpu push the CPU temps up to 95-97.
Im concerned if this is actually a hardware issue or if there are some BIOS tweaks that may cause this? I already downloaded the latest BIOS and did the upgrade through the HP support app.

EliteBook x360 1030 G2 turns off without warning on battery level more then 20%
Hi!
After a year of use, my laptop began suddenly, without warning, to turn off while working on the battery. At first I could not understand what was happening: I work on the battery, "bam" - the laptop turned off. I thought - it's a random bug. But no, the situation repeated.
I started watching - and found that the laptop turns off when, according to Windows 10 battery indicator, the battery level is 16-18%! I tested the battery with UEFI HP utility - no problems were detected, the battery capacity level was 84%. It was november 2018.
Ok, let 84%. Let now the laptop does not work 9 hours on battery, and 7.5 hours on battery. But should he inform me that the battery low? In the settings of the power plan Windows 10 I have indicated that I need to report about the charge of 10% or less. Ok, I set the level of 20% for messages (although this is not the case at all, so the battery is “enough” for 5 hours).
But two days ago, the laptop suddenly turned off again. Without warning. After that, I turned it on - and the battery level was 22%! Today - this level was 23%!
I understand that my warranty is over. But **bleep**, this is HP EliteBook! Business laptop, isn't it? I use only HP EliteBook many years. Last my EliteBook, 8460p, worked from 2011 to 2017 - and there were no problems. He still works, I gave it to my employee. The battery, of course, lost its capacity and, instead of 5 hours, holds less than an 1 hour. But the laptop honestly warns when the battery is almost gone. What's wrong with my new laptop, which worked a little over a year, and battery cycles only 145?
I always installed all updates on time: BIOS, drivers, Windows etc...

I tried, it seems, everything that I found on the HP community forums.
Is now on HP EliteBooks laptops need to change the battery after a year of use?145 cycles with a design 1000 cycles!

Can´t charge my HP Elitebook G5 via the USB-C connector
Hi
I have a HP Elitebook 840 G5. I bought the Powerbank from HP to use for my laptop.
First i had some issues as i could not charge it through the chargers i had. But finally i was able to use my managers USB-C charger for his Elitebook X360. That worked. (Needed 45W+).
But when trying to charge my laptop with this powerbank it didn´t work. We alse tried my managers USB-C charger for my laptop but it didn´t work either.
So, the question is, can i charge my laptop via USB-C. Or is it only the 3.5mm charger i can use?

HP ZBook 15v G5: Not impressed with battery
Hi All,
I just bought HP ZBook 15v G5 with i7 8750, 16GB DDR4 2666 RAM, 256 GB nvme ssd 1 TB Hard disk, Quadro P600 4GB graphics and with 4K UHD display. If am running with quadro graphics in dedicated mode, I can get battery life of just over 2 hours even though am just browsing and not doing any intesive tasks. If I enable hybrid graphics (Integrated 630 and Quadro P600 when required), I get battery life for around 3 hours and 30 minutes for browsing and slight movie watching. I have engaged HP technical support and advised that its expected battery life. Is that how it is for everyone?
Also I have kept the power saving mode to HP recommended and in minimum screen brightness.

X360 G3 1030 resolution problem with QHD HP ZR2740 monitor
I recently bought a new X360 G3 1030 to replace a Surface Pro 4.
When I connect via HDMI the x360 to the HP ZR2740W the max resolution It's receive is 1280x720.
The monitor has a native resolution QHD 2560x1600 and works correctly with Surface.
It don't depend on the type of setting. Only external display, extend, duplicate, the resolution is the same.
I can only reduce it to 640x480....
I update the UHD 620 driver but nothing change.
Seems that the UHD 620 can only use her standard resolutions (ie 2560x1600) that are not compatible with the monitor.
Someone had the same problem or has a aolution?

Zbook 17 G5 Second 1TB m.2 ssd issue
Dear all,
Recently I have bought this machine Zbook g5 http://www8.hp.com/il/en/products/workstations/product-detail.html?oid=22438296#!tab=specs
It came with 512 GB nvme ssd, and I upgraded it by adding 2 ssd's m.2 by 1TB each.
The problem is it can see only one at a time. I have tried all the combinations to be sure it is not a hardware issue, as moving each of the m.2 ssd to both slots and they can be seen in bios and windows, but when I plug both, it can see only one in slot number 2.
Can you please help me figure it out why?

ZBook 15 G3 & HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 w/USB Connected Web Camera Performance Issues
I've been having video performance problems with an HP Webcam HD 4310 on my ZBook 15 G3 through an HP Thunderbolt Dock G2. Laptop BIOS, Windows Drivers, Thunderbolt 3 firmware and Dock G2 firmware have all been updated to the latest, as of Jan 9th, 2019.
When the camera is connected directly to the Thunderbolt Dock G2 via USB, the video cuts out or stops (depending on which application is using the camera) for all applications using the camera. Even the camera management tools. It must be the dock due to the fact that connecting the camera directly to the laptop's USB socket eliminates the problem.
It would be desirable to have the camera connected to a KVM switch which has USB connectivity to the G2 dock. This allows me to switch between my Linux workstation and my laptop running Windows 10. But, with the video performance problems through the G2 dock, I have to manually swap it between the two.
