Support Assistant 'welcome screen pop up' is blocking access to Support Assistant itself.

I have a HP Envy m6-1125dx that has been upgraded to Win8 and has run fine, no big issues other than the wireless adapted crashes and needs to be rebooted, and of course it is just out of warranty by 4 months.

I have another PDF printing problem issue I'll post separately, but The Support Assistant has an icon that is telling me that I have an update I need to take care of. I've used it before for updated but for some reason, I cannot get into it to find out what the issue is, because the "welcome to Support Assistant pop up screen" in front of it will not go away, the next button is greyed out. I've tried to uncheck the 'Show this screen when I open HP Support Assistant' box, (it shouldn't be checked anymore anyhow) but it has no effect. I don't think any of the heartbleed stuff is something involved here, but I wanted to check out the reason why HP says I need an update. If I cannot get a resolution, I'm just going to remove the HP Support Assistant completely.

I use no-script and ad blocker with my browser because of all the cookie tracking crap that is used on the internet, but this application works outside of a browser, so I cannot figure out why the next button is now greyed out in this infuriating pop up screen to make it go away.

Any helpful ideas are welcome.

It's funny how the very thing that is supposed to make it easier to help fix/correct problems, is causing the actual problem. When will companies understand that customer frustration over simple things is what drives us away in the first place. And $100 an hour phone support for a $400 laptop is a joke.
