In Windows 7, the message is sent by hpSmartAdapterHelp.exe
So you can search on the file name or drill down within Program Files, and add .bak to the name.
The program was downloaded by HP to my laptop in Dec 2013.
(Before reading the thread about the message, I wasted an hour looking to see if there was a Smart Adapter for my older model laptop, even wasted 20 minutes of an HP chat tech's time and she determined there was no hardware to find for my model.)
