I'm looking to buy a 2nd hand EliteBook Notebook from Gumtree and the seller doesn't have an invoice/receipt. The Elitebook comes with a 3 years warranty by default and it's a 2018 model.
In case I need, would I need the receipt to use the warranty?
I will check the warranty on the Warranty Checker anyway before buying, but it doesn't necessarily mean they would provide the service if needed.
Should I be concerned about something else?

Rubber feet on less-than-1 yr old laptop fell off. There does not appear to be a replacement part - or is there? What is the best fix? An adhesive? I'm aware this is a widespread issue but an adhesive rubber strip from Home Depot that will constantly peel off is not an acceptable answer/fix. Any guidance? HP has nothing to offer in this area. My daughter's computer warranty ended December last year but notes a crack starting in her screen in the left upper corner. Any suggestions? Can you purchase an extended warranty? Or just wait until it gets worse?
This is one our boss' company laptop.
It's only been 5 months and there's a small opening at the back close to one of the hinges.
Even if you press it closed, it doesn't really click or anything. It'll just open again. like it was deformed.
Should this be brought to a service center to be checked? While it's still under warranty

My HP Zbook Studio G5 laptop randomly freezes once or twice a day for about 10 to 15 seconds (8 hours working day). The mouse pointer and sound freezes, which makes the laptop unusable. This is very annoying.
Does anybody know what can possibly cause this problem?

I bought a used Elitebook 6910p on eBay and the seller sent a HP OEM AC adapter that is rated for 18.5 V / 3.5 A
The label on the bottom of the laptop says 19 V / 4.74 A
I didn't notice this before.
So, it looks like they sent me an 65W AC adapter but this laptop needs 90W.
If I buy a charger that is not HP-branded, will it still work or will I have to fork over $$ for a genuine HP AC adapter?

Have unearthed a HP 255 G6 in the business, but somebody has put a bios password on it, and its not documented anywhere. When i enter a few potential passwords, I get the message "System Disabled i 55488338"
I've tried taking the battery out, and ive tried flashing it with another bios, but i cannot for the life of me get into it.

Ok so basicly the following has happend.
After working on my pc for several years my company decided to get me a new one..
They gave me a Z-book so I don't complain, but they also gave me the possibility to buy my old computer at reduced price, what I did.
That was about a year ago.
Today I'm doing a bit of testing on my old computer (the 470 G0) when I decided to install HP Support Assitant to get the drivers up and running (just upgraded to WIN 10 1903, so wanted everything to be up to date).
However... I cannot update the bios firmware since there is a password on the bios.
Here is the thing: I did never put a password on there, and Manuel, the local IT within the company, no longer is the Local IT but an analyst at customers, and doesn't remember the password for the bios.
How can I reset the password without having to open the whole pc?

I forgot the bios password so I tried to find a way to reset.
1. HPBR > 8570w model not supported.
2. smc.bin > HP center in my country doesn't provide the smc.bin file any more.
Where can i get the smc.bin file?
If there is a way generating smc.bin file by myself, it would be the best solution for me.

Since May, my laptop won't shutdown. After shutdown the fan starts running like crazy. The Harddisk and wifi lights stay on.
Even pressing the power button won't turn it off. I tried all sorts of fixes I found on the internet with no luck. I even opened the case and pulled BIOS battery still no good. Please help.

I have bought few days ago a laptop, who's battery life would last 12 hours. As said by the store and by HP. Now, I have realized, that the battery doesn't last that much. I had to go to the BIOS, to enable the "remaining time" of the battery and it says that it's about 5-6 hours.
Now, I really thought it had 12 hours. What should I do? It's a 3-cell battery with 52,5 Wh.

OK, I am just about to give up. I purchased a factory refurbished Spectre X360 15 inch with an i7-8550U processor and 16GB of RAM. I am actually still within two years of its build, but out of warranty. It has been by far the most miserable and worthless computer I have ever owned. Maybe just a lemon, but it does not speak highly for HP's refurb process.
It does nothing quickly. When I launch an app the first time after booting, it can take as long as 10 seconds to see any sign that the app is starting. It seems not to to know that I have high speed internet.
I have never really worried about the event log, and I know that many of the warnings and errors are irrelevant, but my system generates both in massive quantities. The last half hour has been typical with 11 errors and 44 warnings. I have done several clean installs of Windows 10 64, but nothing changes. I have tried safe mode and clean boot. More of the same.
Microsoft used to have a link from errors to get information about them, but it was helpful so they took it down. The error messages include a large number of different ones. For example,
Event 2004 Perfnet Unable to open the Server service performance object.
Event 10016 DistributedCOM No local activation permission for CLSID xxx and APPID XXX. I have taken ownership of the APPID and CLSID and given every user full control. I thought that the CLSID or APPID might show up in Component Services, and I really don't think I should have to go there. I did set the default activation to include every user. There are lots of DCOM errors, but they point to many difference CLSID and APPID.
Event 1000 Faulting application name: wmiprvse.exe. And no, it is not the virus that lurks in Windows\System32.
Event 1000 Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE.
Event 10010 The Server {xxx} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The Event 2004 and 10016 are the most common.
The warnings seem to be mostly 1008 that say some .DLL failed with error code Access is denied.
Event 201 Connection to WMIS could not be established
Event 219 Driver failed to load
Event 10002 WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.
Frequent warnings no connection to internet.
Anyway, I can muddle myself around with Google, but I am already in over my pay grade. Can anyone give me some guidance as to whether this all sounds like something that can be fixed by a knowledgeable person, or do I just have a very elegant paperweight? This was my first HP after 20 years of IBM/Lenovo, and I am thinking it will be my last.
