Hi there,

I use HP Connected Backup, version 8.8.5.0

For maintenance tasks I usually replace several notebooks and I want to mirror my data from the old laptops to the new ones, keeping the same account.

How could I force the agent to change the computer name related to the same account?

Bests,

Dario

EliteBook 8560w - Bios F.63 Rev.A compatibility with Windows 8.1

$

I'm currently useing Windows 7 on EliteBook 8560w with Bios upgraded to the latest version, Bios F.63 Rev. A, and would like to change the OS to WIndows 8.1 since MSFT will discontinue the tech support for Windows 7.

However, based on the Bios release note, the latest Bios version supporting Windows 8.1 is F.50 Rev. A (all the Bios versions beyond F.50 Rev. A support up to Windows 8 based on the release notes) which is the older version, and each of the newer Bios version are not downgradable once you install it.

May I know if there will be a new Bios udpate to F.63 Rev. A to make it compatible with Windows 8.1, or there will be any known issue if using Windows 8.1 on Bios F.63 Rev. A?

8570w Mobile Workstation - KVM access via Intel ME?

Hello,

I want to use Intel AMT / ME to remote access my old 8570w (with Intel i7-3740QM) which is placed in the basement.

I've found a Technical white paper "Setting up and configuring Intel AMT in HP Business Notebooks, Desktops, and Workstations" (P/N 707955-001, Created June 2012). I can access the Notebook via Browser but only for boot, shutdown and reset. I need KVM access (to BIOS and remote OS Install) and that is described in the whitepaper and should be possible with the 8570w.

The white paper shows ME setup with "Intel AMT Configuration menu -> SOL/IDER/KVM". But in my setup ME shows "SOL/IDER" only (without KVM). So, KVM activation is not possible. Bug or feature?

Maybe my problem is the latest BIOS F.70 Rev.A and Intel ME Firmware 8.1.72.3002 Rev.A. As I've read reverting to an older BIOS is not possible (?).

Any Idea? Thanks in advance.

No TPM available in HP ProBook 450 G1 depending on the BIOS version?

Hi everybody,

we have several (>10) HP ProBook 450 G1 Laptops in our company. At most of them, were are not able to activate the TPM chip (and ultimatively BitLocker). It seems to be dependent on the BIOS version; a few of these laptops with outdated BIOS versions have the option available, so I assume a BIOS update disabled the option to activate the TPM chip. The fun part is that in no BIOS changelog I found the notice "this BIOS update will permanently disable the TPM chip" or something similar.

I found several entries in HP forums adressing this issue:

TPM has dissapeared after BIOS upgrade

Pro Book 450 G1 Enable BitLocker

Unable to enable TPM HP Probook 450 g1

(...)

Is there any solution to this? A BIOS downgrade? A particular key combination?

Thank you and kind regards,

Ken Adams

What is the difference between HP Probook 2RS06EA and 3QL97ES

What is the difference between the HP ProBook 450 G5 Notebook products with the following part/SKU numbers:

2RS06EA and 3QL97ES

At a quick look, I can't find any differences. But what could have caused the different part numbers during production. Is it the addition or removal or improvement of anything?

I can't find any resource on the internet which lists the differences between the various HP ProBook laptops and/or the release dates.

Zbook15 - USB CD-Rom - No boot

Hello, everyone,

My Zbook 15 (Gen. 1 "Base model") has no DVD player in its expansion bay. To play DVD-rom, I use an external USB drive from Asus. The optical disks are then normally readable from the OS.

But the machine cannot boot from this USB CD/DVD drive, regardless of the port it is plugged into. For example, it is not possible to boot the machine from the original Windows 7 DVD. The DVD does not appear in the list of bootable devices offered by the BIOS at boot time.

Of course, I have already tried every available BIOS boot setting, and verified that Boot Secure was disabled, with no results. Similarly, the machine cannot boot from a memory stick either.

I will try to update the BIOS, but without much conviction.

Incorrect warranty start date

Hello,

I've just bought a new Elitebook 850 G4 and attempted to register it in order to activate the 3-year warranty. Unfortunately, a warranty check by my device's serial number shows that the warranty was already started in June 2017 and there are only 14 months remaining. I saw that other people here have poste about similar issues with incorrect start dates of the warranties for their new laptops too.

Why is this so?

I bought the product as brand new from the vendor and can provide a receipt for the payment I've made through PayPal, if needed.

I hope that an HP representative will actually see this and get in touch with me to solve this issue.

P.S. It is also kind of inconvenient that you can't get in touch with proper HP support directly through phone or chat, but instead you can only use this forum.

I have an Elitebook 1040 G4 and I wish to purchase a stylus to use together with the notebook which is a touchscreen.

I have tried checking with the HP stylus compatibility on the HP website but I don't see my specific model that is listed there. Instead, I see a submodel which is the EliteBook 1040 x360 g4 which is compatible with the active stylus pen of HP Active Pen 1FH00AA, HP PN: 918171-001, HP SPS: 926350-001.

I am not sure if these two models are similar and if the active stylus pen is compatible with my laptop or if I have to purchase a passive stylus to use with my laptop
