Pavilion Laptop stuck in "Preparing Automatic Repair" loop!

My brand new week-old HP Pavilion laptop was working fine until yesterday. The game I was playing froze when Windows Live failed to sign me in (GTA IV) and Task Manager failed to appear so I shut the laptop off via the power button. I then went to work, came home and when I turned the laptop on, the screen turned on but was just plain black for about half an hour until it said that Windows 8 had failed to start and the option for Automatic Repair came up. I selected to have Automatic Repair start, but it just went back to the blank screen again. I had to leave after about an hour of the blank screen so again I simply turned it off via the power button. When I came back I turned it on to be greeted by the blank screen again. After an hour or so the HP symbol appeared along with "Prepairing Automatic Repair". A few minutes later it disappeared and I was left with the blank screen again. I decided to leave the laptop on whilst plugged in and found it stayed at the blank screen for hours and hours, with the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen reappearing then disappearing after a minute, every so often. I'm not entirely sure what to do. Anyone help, please? Thanks!
