Note Book Design - Customer Requirements

HP are simply not making what I require !

I'd like to propose that HP do a limited production of one of its more traditional Notebook Computer styles, for all us old fashioned hands who aren't into this poofy ipad touch-screen fad.

Look, I (and most of my friends) have been buying HP's for 35 years +. Ok so you have to make changes to match market demand, but don't forget about us.

What we'd like is a NoteeBook with the physical profile/dimensions of your old HP-Mini BUT with (say) an i5 processor... needs some grunt so I can compile a Program etc. You Notebooks are just too big.

For us, the dimensions (ie small) HP Mini size (was perfect). Battery duration isfar more important than the NoteBook weight. So as long as you keep the NoteBook to with-in a width and depth of your old  HP Mini , we don't care how thick (or heavy [within reason]) it is. We all do a lot of traveling and the HP mini size was perfect. Untra thin Nootebooks?? what for ?? Why have an Untra Thin Note book the size of an assault weapon ?

Screen resolution. Doesn't have to be HD. In the crappy cheapo Airline economy seats we sit in, the screen is only about 40” from our face, so seems a waste of money to indulge in a HD little screens. Also don't waste money on a touch-screen or a detachable screens. Last thing we want is dirty little finger marks all over our nice screen. However, the graphics card needs to be good and the HD plug interface needs to support superior screen resolution quality. After I finish my cheapo flight, I'm either back home or in a hotel both typically having a large HD flat-screen monitor I can attach the Notebook to (and if necessary use an external keyboard).

On the subject of Plug-interfaces, we want all standard Ports thanks.... including Ethernet ( if you like, do a fiber port !)

Improved internal fan..... what more can I say..... the Notebook gets hot. So maybe with a thicker Notbook profile we can have a larger fan powered by a bigger battery ?

Please.... please..... please.... get a back-lit keyboard (or something that enables us to see the keys in semi darkness. The absence of this simple feature really drives us all crazy !

The built-in Mouse Buttons – DO NOT place these on the edge of the Laptop frame !

The location of the Mouse Buttons on the edge created big problems when handling the Laptop in active state. Too easy to depress the Buttons by mistake.

Don't worry about large built-in Hard-Discs etc. An adequate sized Solid State Memory is fine (128GB).  We all carry our own external storage media that we swap around depending on what we're doing at the time. However, please focus on making a BIG improvement on the Lap-top Boot-up and Shut-down speed. Its really embarrassing how long the shut-down takes. I get the Plane-boarding announcement and I'm the last one to board because my Laptop takes SOOOOO long to close down.

Sound.... don't worry too much about the built-in speaker quality... but the Laptop must offer a good sound delivery interface, so I can plug-into good speakers. Ok so the HDMI solves the TV part, but also we need to plug into our external sound system (for music).

Operating System...... the choice must be ours.

Oh...  I could go on at great length. The point I want to make is, Thinness offers NO advatage to us. Weight is also not a major issue as-long-as the extra weight delivers us battery longevity.  The physical dimensions of the old HP Mini was perfect. Just upgrade the internals and screen.

Man ! Am I really that old-fashioned ?
