My brother was installing something on my laptop which required me to restart it. When I turned it back on, some updates were processed, and it continued to my desktop. Everything was blown up, and it was going crazy, so I restarted it again. Upon restarting it, this message was displayed on my screen:
Hard Disk Error
Please run the Hard Disk Test in System Diagnostics.
Hard Disk 1 (3F1)
F2 System Diagnostics
For more information, please visit: www.hp.com\go\techcenter\startup
When I run this test, under the option "Quick Check", i receive the message:
Smart Check: PASSED
Short DST: FAILED
FAILURE ID: GG93JJ-000738-XD7XOK-60S6O3
PRODUCT ID: B8W14AA#ABG
When I run it under Ëxtensive" I get the same message. I haven't backed up my files, and I cannot take it to the school IT department as it is holidays. Is there a way I can rectify this problem without losing all my files? I have assignments due in the first week of term, and I can't afford to lose all of my work.
