Hi
I am looking for some help.
I have an old pavilion zt1210s, i replaced the hard drive as the old one died.
I want to install linux onto it. I set boot order to cd dvd, but each time it starts to boot but hangs indefinately at non emulation booting,
or it shut downs and re starts and keeps doing this over and over.
I have tried several different versions of linux, from the lightest versions to more demanding versions all with the same result.
if i try to install xp using an xp installation disk, i get cannot find NTLDR.
if i put another hard drive in from another laptop running linux it will boot to desktop but obviously there are some errors as it was not installed for the pavilion zt laptop.
if I put the hard drive that i want to use in the pavilion zt into another laptop and install either the linux or the xp OS it works fine.
Can somebody help me try to find out why i cant get the pavilion zt to install any OS's?
I have 512mb RAM.
Also as soon as you remove the power cable it shuts down, so I presume the battery is totally dead.
Thanks
Steve
