I have an 8760w which I am quite happy with excepf to the issue that hta tbacklight has gone dark.
I have replaced the display panel assembly since the backlight is not a separate part. I replaced the cable assembly from the motherboard to the panel. No change in the dark display. The graphics are visible on the screen if enough light is pumpedin from the front. The external SVGA port works just fine, I am writing this on my laptop.
I have almost 30 years of embeded system development and am a fair technician when I take my time and decide to be.
I do not see a point in replacing the mainboard at this point. I bought an HP because they are reliable and repairable.
I do seem to need a schematic to see where else that circuit could have failed.
Where can I find a scematic or ae there any other known issues ( auto dimming for darkness??) that may be affectin g this system?
