Good morning HP Support forums, hoping someone can help me with a driver issue I have been fighting with since yesterday.
I installed windows 7 on to an HP laptp (Model # 15-d038ca, P/N F5Y11UA) and was missing some drivers. Originally I was missing the chipset drivers, LAN / WIFI, PCI Ecnryption / Decryption and the USB Controller driver. I finally managed to get all the chipset and networking drivers installed but I still can't get the USB Controller driver to install. Also the graphics card is using the vga standard driver from windows update and refuses to install the intel HD graphics from HP's website for this laptop.
I had to use the windows 8 64bit drivers to get all the drivers installed but no matter what driver package I try this USB controller driver will not install and is starting to infuriate me. Installing a different version of windows is a simple task but apparently with new HP laptops downgrading to windows 7 is more painful than pulling teeth. What gives?
I have downgraded many brands of laptops but the only ones that give me the run around are HP's. This model in particular has been the biggest headache I have ever experienced. There's no driver discs, it's either reinstall to factory settings or pull your hair out in frustration getting drivers. Even intel's HD graphics driver from their site for this processor doesn't work on this laptop. Sorry to rant and rave but when you buy a branded laptop such as HP and go to their site to get drivers for your model of laptop you expect them to work, not be told your hardware doesn't meet the requirements for this package.
Details for the missing drivers are below.
