Hi - I am new on here! I'm in the UK! Have Hewlett Packard LAPTOP (can't find this on list; only notebook!) It is a laptop!
It is HP Model G62.
Did something stupid! :smileymad: I had not previously had laptop set so I could close lid - to keep any dust etc. off - then just open without logging in first. This has now been sorted.
However, I decided (since ordered proper small equipment to do this!) to HOOVER/VACUUM the keyboard!:catsurprised: (I had done this previously & 'got away with it'! On this occasion vacuum cleaner had new bag in and probably sucking everything up more STRONGLY! I sucked up the LEFT SHIFT KEY - together with the grommet thing (whatever it is called)!
I painstakingly emptied the hoover bag; FOUND the left shift key!!! However, on gently poking through all that dust carefully, I could not find the clip grommit, or whatever, fitting!! Ebay.co.uk offer several but they rightly say 'every keyboard is different'!
I presently have (and NO, I haven't glued/gummed up the whole laptop!!) found someone else's advice on some other forum to v. CAREFULLY affix the key to the round, plastic, 'bobble' v. v. carefully with tiny dap of superglue; hence the key WORKS!
But this is only if I manage to touch the key carefully in the centre. I can't simply just use the Right shift instead, as I am a 'touch typist' and need to use the keys properly.
How can I find out what is appropriate grommit plastic fixing - in order to purchase one - either from ebay UK,
or direct from HP; or another American company? (ideally within THE UK!) Thanks to all, who are probably having a b. good laugh! :smileyvery-happy: Cheers,
