I have a HP Pavilion g6 (C6S45EA#ABU) with Windows 8.1
I also own a Sony DCR-HC44E Handycam. Unfortunately my laptop doesn't recognise my camcorder and is telling me that I need to download a missing driver. Obviously, at the moment, I have no way of transferring recorded info from the tapes to the laptop. Sony say that the USB driver of the Handycam is not supported by Windows 8 so I can’t use a USB connection. Alternatively, they say that I can use an i-link connection (FireWire) using PMB as content transfer software. However if the laptop does not have an i-link port, which I believe it hasn’t,I will need to either get an i-link to USB converter cable which is not always successful, or I should consider purchasing a FireWire PCI card for the laptop / PCMCIA FireWire card port, if the laptop has a PCMCIA port; does the g6 have one and if so will it work?
So does anyone have any clues how I can overcome this problem?
