I have owned two hP computers now, as I have had no issue whatsoever except for last year when my laptop wall charger stopped working. Figuring it was a few years old and a new one was probably standard, I paid $80 at staples for a brand new HP wall adapter and charger. Today, approximately nine months after I bought the charger, I plugged my computer in to charge and do some work. The second I plugged it in the socket there were huge sparks. My hands were
Covered with black burnt plastic, and I was startle but when I looked at the connector it appeared to be still in tact so I disregarded the issue figuring maybe it was the outlet I used. About an hour later I moved my charger and computer to another outlet and when I did so the cord ignited again sending sparks so big they burned my rug and my hands again. At this time, I realized the wires were now exposed and partially melted, so I called around for a replacement cord yet again, checking places like Walmart as dishing out another $80 after Christmas just can't happen right now. Walmart only carries $50 universal adapters and frankly, I just don't have it right now so I placed a call to hp to warn them about the product an to see what we could do to resolve the issue. The phone call took over an hour and a half total, I had three techs who hardly spoke English, and despite my best effort to make this as easy as possible, it took so much time out of my day it was kind of ridiculous and most of it was due to miscommunication. I was kind, patient, understanding, and at the end of my long wait they merely got back on the phone and told me they'd have to get back to me later. In the mean time, I can't do my work because that is my work computer, I almost set my house on fire and now my hands are hurting. Moral of the story? My girlfriend had a MacBook that I used for two years and I had no issues with it whatsoever so my next purchase will be a MacBook hands down.
