my touchpad and down arrow go in and out of working

my hp pavilion g 6 series laptops touch pad and down arrow have suddenly started going in and out of working. sometimes the touchpad works, sometimes it doesnt. the down arrow also sometimes works/doesnt work. when it does work, it works normall for a few seconds then jumps down to the bottom of the screen. i didnt drop my laptop, or do anything to it other than pick it up and move it somewhere else. i tried shutting down, restoring it to an earlier time and nothing has worked so far. whats going on??

it has windows 7, quadcore and radeon graphics, amd a6 -3400 apu, product id is 00359-OEM-8992687-00010

i bought it in 2011 and have taken good care of it since. i also noticed recently that the computers warning system for when the battery is about to die, is off. it doesnt warn me, it just shuts off.
