I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6b78us Entertainment PC (laptop) product #A6S20UA#ABA with a Radeon Graphics HD6490M and Windows 7 64 bit OS. I recently installed a software program (Adobe Premier Elements) but when I went to use it I learned that my graphics drivers were not up to the task of displaying. Thinking that I needed new drivers I researched and found that there are several drivers that are outdated. Rather than manually installing them I decided to use my HP Support Assistant which I had not used for some time. When I opened that it gave me an error indication but it also indicated that all my drivers were current, which I doubt greatly. Without detailing my driver versions I decided that it would be best to update my HP Support Assistant (HPSA) and let it automatically research and update my graphics drivers and any outer outdated drivers. I downloaded what I considered the correct, most recent version of HP SA (sp64126, version 7.4.43.4 Rev A) to replace what I had (sp54620, v 6.1.12.1). Then, I went to my control panel to uninstall the old version of HP SA. I got an error during the uninstall (error 1316 A network error while attempting to read the HPSupportAssistant.msi). Some research led me to believe some registry files were corrupt and I found some advice to download MS Fixit and use it to uninstall. I did that and was able to uninstall the HP SA. Then I ran SP64126 as Administrator and it started to install but asked me whether I should overwrite 5 files (I chose to overwrite all). Then nothing happened for many minutes. It seemed to fail but I had no direct indication of failure. I restarted the computer and tried all again in Safe Mode with networking and again received the same result. How do I reinstall HP Support Assistant to the most recent version for my machine so I can then update the rest of my drivers?
