This is the story of what happened with my laptop. The problem is since resolved but I am curious as to why it happened....
I have a Compaq Presario C304NR running Windows XP...
Yesterday I replaced a hinge on my laptop. Before I did I removed everything, battery, hard drive, cd player, etc. When I finished and tried to turn my laptop back on it wouldn't start at first. Thinking that my battery may be out of juice I plugged in the power cord and it started right up. I checked how much charge the battery had and saw that it didn't need a charge so I unplugged the power cord. My laptop immediately died !
I have HP Battery Check and it says:
65% Discharging
Health-Good
Storage Capacity - High
After doing some research online I tried several solutions but with no luck. Then I saw a suggestion to update your BIOS. The version and date were the same as what I already have but I went ahead and downloaded/installed it anyway. For whatever reason....it worked !! The battery is now charging and the system will start and run on the battey alone ! But I would be interested to know why this happened. :smileyfrustrated:
