mouse pad doesn´t work on unpacked new compaq laptop

I hav just bought a new laptop compaq CQ58-d01S0

I followed the instructions to load the battery with the power cable. The display shows "choose a language" and I then wnted to click the mouse and chose swedish.

But the mouse pad doesn´t work.

I then read the instructions that I should doubletap the upper left corher on the pad to turn it on. It had a little round mark in that corner.

And so I did. 

And nothing happens!!

Oo no is the brand new computer a problem computer?Hard ware error already ?  Or do I need to do something else to get going?
