Hello!!!! I have notebook HP Pavilion dm1-4025sr over the year. The day i bought it I installed Ubuntu. Since then I had this problem with all linux distributives (thermal.off=1 makes it less often), but only one month ago i found something. That what I did. first run linux with thermal.off=1 kernel option then do this. I make it in console. 1) sudo apt-get install lm sensors 2) sensors If you have "No sensors found" - it is good, But If it shows you ANY temperature (espesialy more than 110 C) blacklist that temperature drivers. I had acpi-virtual and k10temp. Both showed me 118 C, but it wasn't even warm!!!! Since i found it I never hade notebook freezed again. Ubuntu 12.04.1 x86_64
